two PERFECT scars on her back,

where BEAUTIFUL wings once sprouted.

blood DROPLETS in her wake,

feathers MIXING in the mud.

torn, AND scattered in the wind,

the same wind that blows at her back MOCKINGLY.

a STORM is approaching,

she isn't flying AWAY.

there is no MORE flight,

n e v e r m o r e, n e v e r m o r e.

[what happened to her wings?]

they stole them, when she wasn't looking,

taped them to their backs and flew away.

lightning SLASHES across the sky,

ENDLESS pelting rain.

[what happened to her wings?]

if the thunder doesn't DROWN out her screams,

then MAYBE her cries will reach the ears in heaven.
